Immediately after Dr Andrew L Barbera's Specialist Orthodontics graduation in December 2008, he practiced clinical orthodontics as a private locum orthodontist for numerous orthodontic practices in South Australia, and also as a clinical orthodontist in the public Adelaide Dental Hospital.
In 2010 a previous medical physician's rooms in the North Adelaide Medical Centre underwent internal demolition and reconstruction to form 'Dr Andrew L Barbera' private orthodontics rooms. Combining classical and modern orthodontics with practical, neat, and aesthetic approaches, the foundation of North Adelaide Orthodontics was formed.
At North Adelaide Orthodontics we believe in allowing natural dental and facial growth and development to take its course without orthodontic treatment if possible; although if growth and development is heading 'off-track', high quality orthodontic mechanisms are utilised for redirecting or correcting the malocclusion. We are proud of creating comfortable patient environments and of our honest approach and professionalism.
North Adelaide Orthodontics is also a proud supporter of the Australian Dental Foundation's 'My School Dentist' Program. If braces are required, the patient will need a check-up for decay or gum problems with their regular dentist. When the braces have been put on it is important that the patient continues to visit their general dentist regularly. For school-aged children, some schools provide general dental services at no cost which also helps to minimise the time away from school.
If your child’s school doesn’t provide these services you may want to introduce the school to the 'My School Dentist' program to provide dental health care services to school-aged children across metropolitan and regional Australia at no out of pocket expense see:- https://www.dentalfoundation.org.au/home/schools.html for more information.
