Dr Andrew L Barbera is a registered Specialist Orthodontist with over 15 years experience within the dental profession.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2001, Andrew spent several years in private dental practice at Broken Hill and Cobar, NSW. He returned to Adelaide in 2005 and obtained first class honours for the Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Hons). For his honours degree and thesis he was awarded the Colin Cormie Scholarship by the Australian Dental Research Foundation. Reference to the honours thesis is: Barbera AL. 2006. At the end of Andrew's specialist orthodontics training he successfully passed examinations for the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and for the Membership of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Andrew has also contributed to teaching orthodontics at the University of Adelaide for 8 years from 2008 to 2015 inclusive. Dr Andrew L Barbera is a full time clinical orthodontist, working as the private Practice Principal of North Adelaide Orthodontics, and as a Senior Visiting Specialist in the public Orthodontic Unit, Adelaide Dental Hospital. Andrew enjoys working with people of all ages from children to teens to adults, believing everyone should have the opportunity of a great smile and good bite. Andrew co-ordinates orthodontic treatment well with each patient's general dentist and is very thorough in his approach to treatment diagnosis, planning, and techniques.
Sharon, Dental Hygienist Sharon has been a dedicated Dental Hygienist for over 10 years. She holds an Advanced Diploma of Oral Health, through the University of Adelaide and Regency College. Sharon is passionate about providing her patients with excellent and thorough dental care, and her commitment to customer service is paramount.
Others describe Sharon as “Professional, caring, trustworthy and through”. Her gentle, caring manner lends itself to her particularly enjoying interaction with young children. As a devoted mother of two little girls, and previously having a childhood fear of the dentist herself, Sharon is inspired by a genuine passion to care for others and their oral health, to recognise and to help alleviate fears in attending the dentist, so that they may help keep their teeth for life. Sharon's professional affiliations include: A member of the Dental Hygiene Association Australia (DHAA), Associate Member: Healthy Development Adelaide (HAD) and Registered: Environment Protection Authority (EPA). Her Dental Interests include: Preventative Health Care for Adults and Children, Oral Pathology & Forensic Odontology, and Various Ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
Sharon is a keen ballroom dancer, and also enjoys horse riding, fishing and spending time with her young family.
Jessica, Dental Assistant Jessica recently joined the North Adelaide Orthodontics team and has quickly become a valued Dental Assistant. Jessica has 3 years’ experience in the dental industry and endeavours to ensure our patients feel calm and comfortable during their visits. She has also completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Molly, Receptionist/Dental Assistant Molly joined the North Adelaide Orthodontics team in March 2020. She shows great enthusiasm in her role as a Receptionist/Dental Assistant and is passionate about providing the very best care to our patients. Molly has over 2 years’ experience in the dental industry and has completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in 2019. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting her family in Port Lincoln and cooking.
